About Studio Velo

Studio Velo is the Bay Area's Premier Cycling Retailer located in Mill Valley, CA. Our focus is on custom and production bikes and we feature some of the most exclusive brands in the business including Cyfac, Guru, Independent Fabrication, Ridley, Yeti, Pivot and Ellsworth. To compliment these brands and to embrace the lifestyle of riding, we have selected some of the finest performance apparel and accessories in the industry. We look forward to helping you get ready for the ride of your life! 

 
Studio Velo is owned and operated by three passionate cyclists. Scott Penzarella, a European-trained bicycle technician. Colin Beardsley, a national-level racing cyclist and 15-year shop mechanic. And Chris Reed, an 8-year shop manager with exceptional experience with both road and mountain bikes. Here, service takes many forms. But riders and their bikes are always treated equally – with respect and love.

Scott Penzarella

Studio Velo's Scott PenzarellaScott is the concept founder and general manager. Scott developed both his business and bicycle technician skills in Spain. His Masters degree in international business from ESIC (Escuela Superior de Gestion & Marketing) in Sevilla, Spain, confirms his expertise in cultivating long-term and professional relationships, directing brand success, and using a multifaceted skill set to drive business growth.

Scott founded Bike-Rx™, now Studio Velo, in 2003 after a successful stint in an import partnership. A well-rounded competitive cyclist, Scott passionately competes in MTB, cyclo-cross, and road competitions.

Colin Beardsley

Studio Velo's Colin BeardsleyColin is a former professional road cyclist as well as an over eighteen year veteran bike shop manager and pro mechanic. During his racing career, Colin was nationally ranked, racing for McGuire Pro Cycling, Metromint, and Squadra Ovest, among others. He trained under many well-known cycling coaches including Dario Fredrick and Ashley Powell.

Colin's extensive experience in competitive cycling and many years in the bike industry has been instrumental in his becoming one of the top bike fitters in the nation. After working with early bike fit pioneer Clay Mankin, Colin has been at the forefront of the industry, bringing both the Retul Fit Sytem and Guru's DFU technology to Northern California. He has helped countless cyclist's at every level achieve their goals, injury free.

Chris Reed

Studio Velo's Chris ReedChris joined the Bike-Rx™ (now Studio Velo) team in 2007. As a graduate in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont, Chris brings unique skills and knowledge to Studio Velo. He contributes to the day-to-day operations an invaluable understanding of the dynamic relationship between industry materials and the environment.

With over eight years of experience as a shop manager and technician, few can rival Chris's bike aptitude. A well-seasoned endurance athlete, Chris selectively competes in endurance MTB races while training and commuting daily to Studio Velo. 

Josh Flexman

Studio Velo's Josh FlexmanA Cat 2 racer and highly skilled bike mechanic, Josh returned to his native roots of Marin County in 2010, landing a position as shop mechanic with Studio Velo at the same time. Personal, polite, and highly knowledgeable, Josh fit in right from the start. Whether out on the race circuit or inside the repair pit, Josh offers a wide variety of skills and experiences that benefit everyone around him.
 

Jeanie Barry

Studio Velo's Jeanie BarryThe team at SV: Women comprises of many extremely talented women. In particular is Jeanie Barry. Jeanie, assistant manager, runs the daily operations and general buying responsibilities. She hand-selects the diverse line of women-specific apparel that is both functional and genuinely fashionable at SV: Women. Jeanie works hard to ensure we carry current, top of the line women's cycling apparel and clothing.
 

Kyra Habekoss

Studio Velo's Kyra HabekossAnother one of the brilliant ladies is Kyra Habekoss. Always wearing a smile and offering a pleasant "hello", Kyra is here to make all your shopping needs simple. Well educated about everything from Brooks Bags to Osmo Nutrition and Capo Apparel she will help you shop with ease. The best cycling apparel and accessories personal shopper you will ever find!
 

Starla Teddergreen

Studio Velo's StarlaStarla is a professional cyclist with Vanderkitten-Focus women’s team, and has raced in Europe, Australia, and the U.S. for almost a decade. She has spent a lot of time on a bike, as a racer, commuter, messenger, and world traveler and knows the importance of a good bike fit and even better yet, how awesome a custom bike, built just for you, can be. Joining the SV Crew as our first female fitter, Starla has made waves around town, fitting both men and women to rave reviews! Chris Dressick (aka Ritchie)

Studio Velo's Chris Dressick After nearly 16 years of creating culinary wonders in restaurants around the country, from Beaver Creek, CO to Portland, OR and beyond, Chef Chris joined Studio Velo to lead our travel and gourmet food division, SV: Gourmet. SV:Gourmet incorporates the skills and passion of a professional chef and the travel pursuits and expertise of SV:Travel.
