dZi Foundation / Studio Velo Coast Ride - South Route April 5th-7th

Studio Velo is proud to announce the dZi Foundation / Studio Velo California Coast Ride, a 3-day cycling adventure from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo.

As part of our charitable work with the dZi Foundation, Studio Velo will be hosting an invite-only coast ride for 25 riders, several of whom will be coming 'across the pond' to enjoy some of California's finest riding. The purpose of this event is to ride the magnificant coast of California while introducing our clients to the dZi Foundation and some of its staff. Joining us along this adventure will be dZi's Executive Director Jim Nowak along with Vice Chair Bill Keller, both avid riders whose passion for their cause is matched with their passion on the bike.

The dZi Foundation is a non-for-profit that partners with underserved communities in remote regions of the Himalaya to build sustainable locally-driven programs that improve quality of life through advancing education and health while reducing poverty.

This world-class, fully supported California Coast Ride takes you from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo, via a special Day 2 ride along 17-mile drive and through a special Carmel Valley loop on our way to Big Sur. The April 5th-7th edition promises to bring another challenging and adventurous cycling experience. We have again secured premiere accommodations for Friday and Saturday night with a highlighted meal at Post Ranch Inn on Saturday night.

Day: 1 - The majority of riders will depart from Half Moon Bay, riding over 65 miles down some of the most scenic coast south of San Francisco. There will be an optional climb/route addition up Bonny Doon, part of the now famous Amgen Tour of California.

Day 2 -  Today is a special day, with a new route starting in Carmel, riding the famous 17-mile drive along with a challenging climbing route through Carmel Valley.  We will finish by riding the coast from Carmel to Big Sur, enjoying the expansive and scenic roads that lead into the great forests of Big Sur.

Day: 3 - The 105 miles from Big Sur to SLO, CA are legendary.  Starting off with some great climbs, offering some of the best views on the central coast line of California, we will slowly begin a gentle descent down towards Cambria. With some help from Mother Nature, we will likely have a strong NW tailwind guiding us south to finish our 3-day adventure.

Included in the trip will be:

•  All accommodations and meals, including dinner at Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur.

• Full SAG (support and gear) throughout the riding trip with at least one vehicle following the group as sweep at all times.

• Sprinter Van Ride to Ride back to San Francisco on Day 3. Arrive 10pm

• Full luggage transfer each day, with daily support bags carried by SAG vehicles.

• Mechanical assistance and all necessary bicycle supplies and materials for carefree riding.

• Welcome packet with all routes, maps, FAQ’s, planning logistics and other information.
